The nursing profession is currently experiencing a shortage nationwide. According to the American Hospital Association, hospitals are short 126,000 nurses. In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there will be one million job openings in the field by 2010. Monster's new alliance with the American Nurses Association as well its HMonster healthcare community (http://hmonster.com [1]), which Monster launched in May 2002, helps to address the critical staffing shortage that exists in the nursing profession and healthcare field as a whole.
Through the alliance, Monster will be the career content provider for the American Nurses Association and its website, NursingWorld.org, which serves registered nurses across the country and receives over 12 million unique visits per month. Visitors to the site will be able to access Monster's global database of healthcare and nursing jobs, build a resume using Monster's resume builder, create a job search agent, as well as research expert-driven articles on tips and advice on how best to manage a career in nursing and healthcare.
"Our new alliance with the American Nurses Association will be instrumental in helping address the current nationwide nursing shortage," said Steve Pogorzelski, Monster's president North America. "The relationship with the ANA affords Monster a valuable opportunity to reach the top talent of the nursing industry, enabling us to help healthcare professionals manage their careers, while also providing employers a cost effective way to attract much-needed talent."
To further address the future recruitment challenges in healthcare, Monster will also leverage trade show opportunities and its student-focused divisions to work with the ANA to generate awareness about nursing careers. Through its Making it Count and FastWeb programs, Monster will educate nationwide high school and college students on the benefits of a nursing career. These programs reach over 2.5 million high school students and one out of every three college-bound seniors via Making it Count's in-school empowerment presentations and FastWeb's online scholarship engine. In addition, MonsterTRAK, the leading online career resource for college students, has relationships with over 1,400 college and university career centers, including 400 campuses with specific healthcare schools and majors.
The Monster/ANA alliance also benefits employers looking for talented nurses to fill open positions, as they will be able to post jobs on the co-branded Monster/ANA site at NursingWorld.org. As the only full-service professional organization representing the interests of the nation's 2.7 million nationwide registered nurses through 54 constituent state associations and 12 organizational affiliate members, the ANA is the oldest, largest and most diverse professional nurses association. Employers will be able to target their open positions directly to them, facilitating the goal of having the top talent in the nursing profession applying for their jobs.
Other features of the alliance include monthly healthcare chats with industry-leading healthcare and nursing experts, Monster career content on ANA newsletters, and additional exposure for the ANA and its nationwide base of registered nurses.
