Monster CEO Sal Iannuzzi Takes Part in White House Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth

Urges business leaders to answer a call for action; Monster one of first to participate in new Department of Labor initiative to provide tools to job seekers

MAYNARD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 4, 2009-- Mr. Sal Iannuzzi, chairman, president and chief executive officer Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:MWW), was an invited participant in yesterday’s all-day White House Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth and today shared some of his observations and what Monster is doing to help job seekers.

“The White House Forum on Jobs was a call to arms for a group of leaders to roll up our sleeves and innovate our way out of this unacceptable level of unemployment,” said Iannuzzi. “Every business leader can take action, and we’re committed to doing our part. We’re introducing powerful new search tools that help seekers uncover jobs they might have missed before, and help employers find the best people for the jobs they have open now. We have career exploration and planning tools for people who want or need to consider new options.”

Earlier this year, Monster kicked off the Keep America Working Tour, a nation-wide career fair giving job seekers the opportunity to meet employers face to face, making more than 100 stops across the country through the end of this year. “I am honored to be part of the Forum on Jobs and for Monster to be part of the solution,” said Iannuzzi.

Approximately 130 attendees attended the White House forum, including representatives from major companies and non-profit groups, small business owners, elected officials, economists, union heads and academic influencers. Forum attendees participated in six discussion groups on topics including: Innovation and Green Jobs of the Future; Expanding Job Opportunities through Exports; Small Business Job Growth; Long-range Infrastructure plans; Encouraging Business Competitiveness and Job Creation; and Preparing Workers and Strengthening Main Street.

According to President Obama, “During these difficult economic times, we have a responsibility to consider all good ideas to encourage and accelerate job creation in this country. I am looking forward to hearing from the private sector, from CEOs and small business owners and from Americans struggling to make ends meet, on how we can work together to create jobs and get this economy moving again.”

Monster Participating in New Department of Labor Website Providing Tools and Resources for Job Seekers

Monster is also participating in the new website introduced by the Department of Labor called the “Tools for America's Job Seekers Challenge," connecting workers with online career resources, and offering businesses and other organizations an opportunity to showcase their best products. “We support anything that helps people find jobs and place workers, and I urge all providers of online job resource to learn more and submit their products,” said Iannuzzi. The effort is a collaboration among the White House, the Dept. of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA), IdeaScale.com, job-related online tool providers, workforce development professionals and jobseekers.
