Sept 9, 1997: U.S. Air Force Reserve Command Has Selected TMP Worldwide For Recruitment Advertising Contract

New York, N.Y., September 9, 1997 -- The U.S. Air Force Reserve Command has selected TMP Worldwide, (NASDAQ: TMPW) one of the world's largest recruitment advertising agencies, as the agency of record for its recruitment advertising program. TMP will be responsible for the $3.5 million a year reserve recruitment advertising program which includes public service print and broadcast advertising and direct mail as well as the development of an Internet recruitment strategy.

"This is particularly exciting for us, because to the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that a recruitment advertising agency has been awarded a military recruitment account of any kind," said Andrew J. McKelvey, chairman and CEO of TMP Worldwide. "We're especially looking forward to playing an integral part in the development of the Air Force Reserve's online recruitment strategy."

TMP's Interactive Division includes two of the leading online recruitment Web sites, The Monster Board (http://www.monster.com) and Online Career Center (OCC) (http://www.occ.com). More than 10,000 of the nation's top employers, including 55 of the Fortune 100 companies have used TMP's recruitment sites as part of their recruitment strategies.

According to the Air Force Reserve Command, recruiting and retention of top-notch people is becoming a challenge. There are fewer people with prior service available today and fewer people "off the street" who are interested in joining military service.

"We are competing with the other services as well as with the civilian sector for the best people. Therefore we felt it was extremely important to work with an agency that demonstrated a thorough understanding of recruiting in today's highly competitive environment," said Lt. Col. Glenn Broadnax, chief, advertising, resources and budget division, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Squadron. "We were extremely impressed with TMP's recruitment advertising capabilities and believe that the company's combination of traditional and online experience will allow us to attract top-notch people in the future."

Founded in 1967, TMP Worldwide is the world's largest yellow page and one of the world largest recruitment advertising agencies with more than 2,200 employees in 11 countries. TMP's clients include more than 70 of the Fortune 100 and more than 240 of the Fortune 500 companies. The company's Internet offerings include The Monster Board, the premier career center on the World Wide Web; Online Career Center, the Internet's earliest career site; MedSearch, the primary online "help wanted" service for the health care industry; and Be the Boss, a leading provider of information on franchise opportunities.
