MAYNARD, MA – July 22, 1999 – As more and more job seekers turn to the Web in their search for the best employment opportunities, Monster.com continues to dominate the online career category. According to independent research conducted by Media Metrix, 4.2 percent of the entire U.S. Internet population visited Monster.com during the month of June. This represents nearly twice as many unique visitors than its closest competition.
Monster.com continued to storm through the competitive ranks and is now the 71st most visited of all Internet sites and the 18th most popular in the Media Metrix category ranking of news, information and entertainment sites. Visitors to Monster.com spent twice as much time and reviewed three times as many pages as they did when visiting Monster.com's nearest competitor.
Monster.com, the leading global careers web site, has recently experienced an enormous boost in site traffic – 27 percent increase in share since January – thanks to an aggressive television campaign featuring Monster.com's critically acclaimed commercial, and the launch of a new service, Monster Talent Market. Monster Talent Market is a marketplace within Monster.com, where free agents, consultants, and independent professionals can market their skills in real time to employers in an innovative auction-style environment, creating a new relationship between talent supply and demand on the Web.
"Our newest service, Monster Talent Market, is fundamentally changing the whole way people find employment," said Jeff Taylor, CEO of Monster.com. "The continuing increase in traffic is a clear indication that the site offers the right tools, empowering job seekers and providing employers with faster access to talent."
