Michael D. Ballenger, Former Partner with Heidrick & Struggles, Joins Palo Alto Office of TMP Worldwide Executive Search
New York, March 26, 2000 -- TMP Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ: TMPW; ASX: TMP), the leading provider of global recruitment solutions, including the dominant Internet career portal, Monster.com, today announced the appointment of Michael D. Ballenger as Partner in the company's Executive Search Division. Mr. Ballenger, formerly a Partner with Heidrick & Struggles in San Francisco, joins the Palo Alto office of TMP Worldwide Executive Search and will build the company's health care practice in Silicon Valley, providing recruiting and consulting services to TMP Worldwide's health care clients.
Steven B. Potter, CEO of TMP Worldwide Executive Search, said, “Michael Ballenger is a proven leader in recruiting top executives in the healthcare products industry and his appointment proves our commitment to growing the highest quality health care practice in the industry. Furthermore, his extensive network of contacts in Silicon Valley is a boon to the TMP Worldwide brand on the West coast.”
Mr. Ballenger will work closely with Neal Maslan, Global Health Care Sector Leader, who has responsibility for the company's health care sector worldwide. In addition, he will collaborate with Brad Stirn, Head of TMP Worldwide's West Coast Executive Search operations, and Steve Strain, a Partner in the Global High Technology Practice, to further strengthen TMP Worldwide Executive Search in Northern California.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Stirn said, “We are very excited at having Michael join us here in Silicon Valley and the potential it presents. He will not only expand our industry focus beyond information technology to include healthcare products, but he is a key player as we continue to build a world-class global Healthcare Practice for TMP Worldwide.”
Mr. Ballenger has 14 years' experience in the executive search industry, the past 10 with Heidrick & Struggles where he was the firm's Global Practice Leader for Healthcare Products. Prior to that, Mr. Ballenger was a Partner with Howe-Lewis International. His health care industry experience includes his tenure as Director of Human Resources for Genentech, Inc., and eight years as an executive with American Hospital Supply Corporation, where he ascended to the post of Vice President of Personnel for the Pacific International Division. Mr. Ballenger specializes in board of director and chief executive officer searches, as well as senior-level assignments in research, product development and other business functions, and he is consultant to a broad range of clients, from start-ups to mature firms in all segments of the healthcare products industry. Mr. Ballenger is a graduate of California State University in Sacramento, and he holds a Masters of Business Administration from San Jose State University.
Mr. Ballenger's appointment follows that of another former Heidrick & Struggles Health Care Partner, Grant Wicklund, who joined TMP Worldwide earlier this month as a Partner in the company's Health Care Practice in Dallas.
