TMP Worldwide Hires Alan Wilson From Heidrick & Struggles to Run Executive Search Operations in Australia and New Zealand
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2001--TMP Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ: TMPW), the world's leading supplier of human capital solutions, including the pre-eminent Internet career portal, Monster(R).com, today announced that TMP Worldwide Executive Search has recruited Alan Wilson to head the company's operations in Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Wilson was founder and Office Managing Partner of Heidrick & Struggles' Melbourne office.
"Winning Wilson away from Heidrick & Struggles is a major coup for TMP Worldwide Executive Search," said Steve Potter, CEO, TMP Worldwide Executive Search. "Alan is known as `the' recruiter in Melbourne and is an incredible addition to our team. Building out our presence in Asia Pacific is of paramount importance to us. I can't think of an individual I would rather have on board in Australia and New Zealand than Alan."
Mr. Wilson's track record is impressive. He founded the Melbourne office of Heidrick & Struggles in October 1998, and quickly built it into a major force in industrial, natural resources, utilities, financial services and e-commerce searches. Mr. Wilson ranked among the firm's leading revenue generators in Australia.
John Mclaughlin, head of Asia Pacific for TMP Worldwide Executive Search, who concluded the deal with Wilson had this to say, "We were extremely eager to get Alan on our team. We knew that he would be a great fit within the TMP Worldwide model and the range of services that we offer. Here, he has the opportunity to operate in two key markets for us, and given what he has accomplished in the past, we are excited to see what he can do in an environment that really fosters and rewards entrepreneurship."
Mr. Wilson will be based in the Melbourne office of TMP Worldwide Executive Search. His expertise focuses on e-business, infrastructure and finance searches across Asia Pacific, and he has successfully completed assignments for positions located in Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, China, Thailand and India. Many of these have required international searches, with Mr. Wilson co-ordinating the activities of a world-wide team of search consultants. He has provided services to clients including international insurance companies and banks, direct equity funds, venture capitalists and Internet companies.
Prior to entering executive search, Mr. Wilson directed an international technology research program. Before this he worked in stockbroking and investment banking, and was managing director of two publicly listed investment companies with shareholdings in activities ranging from mining to meat export.
Mr. Wilson had been a Partner of Heidrick & Struggles since 1998, joining them from Russell Reynolds Associates, where he had been since 1995. He earned his Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) from Griffith University and a Masters of Business Administration from IMD.
