Oct 8, 1997: TMP Worldwide Announces Strategic Marketing Agreement With Excite
The Monster
Board and Online Career Center to become premier providers on
Careers & Education Channel
New York, N.Y., October 8, 1997 -- TMP Worldwide (NASDAQ:TMPW), one of the world's largest recruitment advertising agencies and a leader in Internet recruitment, and Excite, Inc., (NASDAQ:XCIT), an Internet media company offering the Web's first free online service, have established a new two year strategic marketing relationship. TMP's leading career sites, The Monster Board (http://www.monster.com) and Online Career Center (OCC) (http://www.occ.com), will be the premier providers of co-branded jobs and career related information for the Excite Careers & Education Channel.
Excite users will now have direct access to more than 100,000 job listings, personal job search agents, resume-building and posting capabilities, company profiles and valuable advice on managing a career. Excite and TMP also have plans to add other valuable services, such as online ``career chats,'' over the next several months. The two parties have established a two-year, multimillion dollar relationship.
``We truly believe this is landmark agreement for us. Our goal is to make our clients' jobs available to the largest audience possible and to do this we need to be everywhere potential candidates are,'' said Andrew J. McKelvey, chairman and CEO of TMP Worldwide. ``With today's announcement, our career Web sites are now featured on two of the Internet's top 'mega sites,' Excite and AOL.''
Both The Monster Board and OCC offer job seekers free access to a growing list of technical and non-technical jobs in more than 200 categories including finance, sales and marketing and healthcare. Job seekers can also tap into extensive advice on careers which can help them find the right jobs and develop strong resumes. Company profiles are also available to help better prepare job seekers for inquiries and interviews.
According to Jeff Taylor, executive vice president of TMP's Interactive Division, the agreement with Excite is especially important in today's crowded Internet marketplace.
``There are so many players in the online recruitment advertising arena these days, knowing where to go to is confusing,'' said Taylor. ``By developing co-branding efforts with dominant Internet players like Excite, we are able to dramatically increase exposure to the high quality jobs and corporations found on our Web sites and ultimately differentiate our products from the competition.''
Collectively, The Monster Board and OCC Web sites had nearly two million visits in August, according to Nielsen I/PRO. More than 10,000 of the nation's top employers, including 55 of the Fortune 100 companies, have used TMP's recruitment sites as part of their recruitment strategies.
``TMP clearly recognizes the value of using co-branding to reach our large audience base and the increased exposure it offers their clients,'' said Brett Bullington, executive vice president, Excite, Inc. ``Excite, for its part, recognizes the importance of providing our users with the highest quality, most comprehensive career content available on the Web today. After all finding the right job - or the right employee - is serious business.''
The Monster Board, based in Framingham, Mass., and Online Career Center, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, are products of the Interactive Division of TMP Worldwide, the world's largest yellow page advertising agency and one of the world's largest recruitment advertising agencies. TMP intends to continue to develop alliances that will provide additional traffic/circulation to its list of career center Web sites, which currently includes The Monster Board, OCC, Be The Boss (http://www.betheboss.com) and MedSearch (http://www.medsearch.com).
