TMP Worldwide Announces Strategic Appointment Within Its Executive Search Division
NEW YORK-Jan. 28, 2000 -- TMP Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ: TMPW; ASX: TMP), the leading provider of global recruitment solutions, including the dominant Internet career portal, Monster.com, and the world's largest Yellow Pages advertising agency, today announced the appointment of Stephen R. Strain as a Partner with the company's Executive Search Division. Mr. Strain will develop and build a new office for TMP Executive Search in the San Francisco Bay area in collaboration with Brad Stirn, Head of TMP's West Coast Executive Search Operations. Mr. Strain will also significantly contribute to the further strengthening of TMP Worldwide's Global High Technology Practice.

Mr. Strain's recruiting experience includes search assignments in the computer hardware, disk drive, communications, networking, semiconductor, peripherals and software industries. Steve is well known for leading search assignments for CEOs, general management positions, directors of corporate boards, and functional executives in sales and marketing, engineering/R&D, operations/manufacturing, and administration.

With over twenty years of high technology industry operating experience, Mr. Strain, 59, began his career serving nine years with Hewlett-Packard both domestically and overseas. He has since been a director with Advanced Micro Devices, and has held vice presidential positions with Seagate Technology, Western Digital, and Maxtor.
His background integrates nine years of senior-level executive search experience with solid management skills, and a strong foundation of domestic and global high technology industry experience. Most recently, Mr. Strain was a Partner within Spencer Stuart's High Technology Practice, having previously served as its North American Practice Leader. He also co-founded Spencer Stuart's East Bay (Pleasanton) office, a satellite office to the firm's Menlo Park office where he also served as Office Manager for a year. Mr. Strain has been recognized by his European partners for his outstanding international experience in both Europe and Asia, having been appointed as Spencer Stuart's first American leader of its European High Technology Practice.
Mr. Strain is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and holds a Master's of Business Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles.
