new mergers and integration department
NEW YORK, June 1, 1999 -- TMP Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ: TMPW; ASX: TMP), the leading provider of global recruitment solutions including the dominant Internet career portal, Monster.com; and the world's largest Yellow Pages advertising agency, today announced the appointment of Bart W. Catalane as chief financial officer of the company.
With 19 years of work experience in various finance and accounting functions with top-tier companies, Mr. Catalane brings a wealth of knowledge and judgment to his new role at TMP. His background integrates solid management skills with a strong foundation of internal audit, SEC reporting requirements and computer systems experience. In addition, his previous work with the financial oversight of acquisitions and start-ups in domestic and international arenas will serve TMP well as the company continues to expand both domestically and internationally.
Most recently, Mr. Catalane was executive vice president and chief financial officer of ABC's broadcasting division, a unit of the Walt Disney Company, based in New York. In this position, he was responsible for the development and implementation of the company's annual operating budgets; strategic plans and capital budgets, including the five-year plans. Previously, Mr. Catalane served in various financial management capacities at a number of organizations including Coopers & Lybrand and Capital Cities Communications Inc. He has been a Certified Public Accountant in New York since 1982.
Mr. Catalane, who will report to James J. Treacy, Chief Operating Officer of TMP Worldwide, will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day financial aspects for the company. He replaces Roxane Previty, current CFO of TMP, who will assume the newly created position of senior vice president, mergers and integration.
"Bart comes to us with a perspective and skill set which are well-suited to the requirements of TMP Worldwide at this time," said Mr. Treacy. "I am very excited to have him on board and I look forward to working with him as TMP continues to expand its business."
"In recent years, our company has seen itself almost triple its size," said Andrew J. McKelvey, Chairman and CEO of TMP Worldwide. "As TMP moves into the next phase of its growth, we are fortunate to recruit someone like Bart to help us maintain our superb track record of financial stability."
"Complementing Bart as CFO is the wealth of knowledge and experience Roxane brings to her new role as senior vice president of mergers and integration," continued Mr. McKelvey. "Her proven ability to facilitate the integration of our past acquisitions is invaluable and, with her expanded duties, she will continue to play an integral role in TMP's continued success."
Coincidentally, Mr. Catalane opened the doors to his current opportunity at TMP while perusing Monster.com. "Monster.com is one of the most user-friendly and innovative job sites I have ever come across," said Bart Catalane. "I was impressed by the sheer number of career opportunities the site offers for upper management. Monster.com is an exceptional service and I am happy to announce that I am assuming my new position in the very company whose products have contributed to my latest career move."
Mr. Catalane is a 1978 graduate of Fairfield University in Connecticut and earned an MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts in 1980. He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Broadcasters, the North American National Broadcasters Association, the International Radio and Television Foundation and the American Broadcast Employees Federal Credit Union.
