The Monster Board and Online Career Center to be Featured in Lycos Careers Web Guide
New York, April 14, 1998 -- TMP Worldwide (NASDAQ: TMPW), the leader in Internet recruitment, and Lycos, Inc., "Your Personal Internet Guide," announced a new strategic marketing agreement today, making The Monster Board and Online Career Center (OCC) the premier providers of jobs and career-related information for Lycos' Careers Web Guide. Lycos users will have access to The Monster Board and OCC's extensive database of job listings from leading national and international employers.

Both The Monster Board and OCC offer job seekers free access to a growing list of technical and non-technical jobs in more than 200 categories including finance, sales and marketing, and healthcare. In addition to more than 100,000 quality job listings, Lycos users will have access to personal job search agents that deliver opportunities to job seekers' desktops even when they are off-line; resume-building and posting capabilities; company profiles; and valuable advice on managing a career.
According to Jeff Taylor, founder of The Monster Board and executive vice president of TMP's Interactive Division, the company's alliances like the one announced today with Lycos, continue to help TMP meet it's top objective of connecting job seekers and employers. "Job seekers and employers using our Web sites are experiencing a high level of success," said Taylor. "Research recently conducted by the Advertising Research Corporation found that one out of four job seekers who apply for a job through The Monster Board receives a job offer, and those receiving an offer receive an average of three offers each."
The research also reported that 44 percent of job seekers on The Monster Board are classified as "passive" job seekers, which are viewed by employers as very hirable and desirable candidates. These candidates are currently employed and hold positions with which they are relatively content. Most "passive" job seekers reach The Monster Board from one of its alliance partners.
