TMP Worldwide Acquisitions Expand Recruitment Advertising, Search & Selection Networks
New York, N.Y., July 30, 1998 - TMP Worldwide (NASDAQ: TMPW), one of the world's largest recruitment advertising agency networks and the online recruitment leader, today announced the acquisition of four international recruitment advertising agencies and one executive search and selection firm. These five acquisitions including Avant Garde of Singapore, Ko Advertising of Singapore, J.B.A. of London, England, March of Manchester, England and Europ Consultants of Barcelona, Spain will add approximately $2.5 million in annualized commissions and fees for TMP.
"As our clients look beyond their own ‘backyards' for the best possible candidates, we continue to strengthen our worldwide infrastructure to better meet their needs for top-level talent," said Andrew J. McKelvey, chairman and CEO of TMP Worldwide. "With a leadership position in Australia and a significant presence in New Zealand, TMP's acquisitions of Avant Garde and Ko Advertising in Singapore extend the company's reach in the Pacific Rim, further expanding our resources and introducing TMP's recruitment expertise to new markets."
In addition to the Singapore acquisitions, TMP's purchases of J.B.A. and March in the United Kingdom further strengthen the company's recruitment advertising position in this country, where TMP is the industry leader and currently twice the size of its nearest competitor according to data supplied by the Institute of Personnel and Development.
Finally, TMP's acquisition of Europ Consultants in Barcelona represents the company's initial foray into Spain for its expanding executive search and selection network. Going forward, Europ Consultants will be known as MSL Spain, and be part of TMP's MSL Search and Selection Network. MSL Search and Selection was formed earlier this year following the merger of MSL International and TMP's Austin Knight. Headquartered in London, MSL Search and Selection currently has wholly-owned operations in the U.K., Germany and Spain, with additional European expansion expected by the end of 1998. The division operates in nine key industries, including Financial Services, Information Technology and Healthcare.
