Senior Health Care Recruiter Joins TMP Worldwide Executive Search

Former Spencer Stuart Senior Director Dr. Anthony Pfannkuche Brings Extensive Health Care Financing and Service Organization Integrated Systems and IT Enterprise Recruiting Experience to TMP Worldwide's Southern California Region

Dr. Pfannkuche joins the firm as a member of the global Health Care Sector and will focus on the recruitment of senior level professionals for health care financing and services organizations, as well as integrated systems and information technology enterprises. In addition, he will partner with members of the global Health Care and global Technology Sectors on information technology, line management and strategy management consulting assignments.

Prior to his association with TMP Worldwide, Dr. Pfannkuche was a Senior Director with Spencer Stuart. During his ten-year tenure with the firm, he led the Firm's Managed Care Specialty Practice and served as the liaison between the Spencer Stuart's Internet and Life Sciences Practices. Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Dr. Pfannkuche was a senior executive with Blue Cross of California, serving as a member of the management team that achieved a remarkable turnaround of the Plan. He developed and led CaliforniaCare, the first non-Federally qualified, experience-rated Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) in California. He served as its CEO for four years, and under his leadership, CaliforniaCare was the fastest growing HMO in the country and became one of the largest HMOs in the country.

Dr. Pfannkuche joined Blue Cross from a large public corporation, National Medical Enterprises, Inc., where he served as Director of Development for its International Group. He also led the Corporate initiative in "alternative delivery systems," which involved the Company in healthcare financing. Dr. Pfannkuche was recruited to NME from CAL, a public policy advisory and strategy consulting firm, where he served as a Project Manager, based in Washington, D.C., dealing with a wide range of strategic management consulting projects for both the private and public sectors. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was Phi Beta Kappa and a Rhodes Scholar Nominee, a Master's from the University of Chicago, and a Master's and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. He has served on the faculties of the University of Iowa, the American University in Washington, D.C., and the American University of Beirut.
