Seeking Greener Pastures: Monstermoving.com Poll Finds 53% of Relocating Americans are Moving for Career Change

Number of Respondents Moving for a Job Doubled in Less than a Year

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 2003-- As the difficult economy continues, a recent Monstermoving.com poll indicates that 53% of moving consumers are relocating for a career change. The results are nearly double those of a similar poll conducted in 2002 that found only 29% of respondents moving for a change of career. Monstermoving.com is a leading online source of relocation information and a brand extension of MonsterĀ®, the flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNST - News)

Today's demanding employment environment is forcing job seekers to adopt more sophisticated and aggressive tactics for landing a job -- and relocation is proving to be an effective and viable method. The results clearly illustrate that a rapidly increasing number of Americans are seeking out opportunities in new locations as a way to broaden their job prospects.

The Monstermoving poll asked relocating consumers, "Why are you moving?" The Summer 2003 poll revealed that out of 1,942 respondents, 53% were moving for a "Career change", 32% for a "Change in lifestyle", and 13% for a "Change in household size." In comparison, the October 2002 poll revealed that out of 1,928 respondents, only 29% were willing to relocate for a "Change in career" while 41% were willing to relocate for a "Change in lifestyle."

"Americans are clearly steadfast in their quest to find employment - even if it means relocating," said Pete Lamson, COO, Monstermoving.com. "The poll results illustrate the important synergy between Monster and Monstermoving.com. As more job seekers turn to Monster to help them find employment in this challenging economic climate, they can rely on the services of Monstermoving.com to help them with their job-related relocation needs."
