More than 70% of Spaniards would like to work as a civil servant

Madrid, June 2010 – The cutting of civil servants salary is right now one of the hottest topics debated in Spain. During these days, Madrid has been witness to the demonstration of some people of this category, who indicate that they are preparing a strike for the 29th of September. However, the safety of a stable job and the security to respect the work schedule are still competitive advantages compared to other kinds of job, and that’s the main reason why lots of Spanish are preparing for the competitive examination in order to obtain this kind of position.

A recent study carried out by Monster in Spain reveals that more than 70% of Spaniards would like to work as civil servants. Among them, 17% of those polled say that they have always dreamt of this kind of position, the rest 55% emphasizes the safety of a stable job and the security to respect the time schedule.

In contrast, 28% of those polled wouldn’t like to work as a civil servant. Among them, 5% of Spaniards says that it’s too complicated and too much work carry out the studies to pass the competitive examination. The rest 23% wouldn’t like at all working as a civil servant.

In this survey, Monster asked Spanish workers, “If you could choose, would you like to work as a civil servant?”
