Monster's Marketing Mojo Drives Local Market Reach; Monster Reaches New Heights in Local Markets Across the United States
During the month of April, Monster's reach in local markets was unsurpassed, double that of its closest competitors. The leading markets for Monster included Dallas-Fort Worth with a reach(b) of 18.7 percent, followed by Kansas City (17.9 percent), San Francisco (17.8 percent), Pittsburgh (17.8 percent), Atlanta (17.5 percent), and Boston (17.1 percent). Other notable cities included Los Angeles (15.5 percent), Chicago (14.4 percent), Cincinnati (13.2 percent), and New York City (12.5 percent).
The leading cities in the research by Media Metrix are noteworthy because of Monster's marketing endeavors in five of the key markets listed above. Last year, Monster introduced dedicated street teams in five cities: Boston, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The street teams make regional stops at popular community events, consumer and trade shows, college campus events, job fairs and sporting events.
"With 16.3 million job seekers during the month of April and a leading presence in all major local markets, Monster serves every job seeker at every level into every small town across 21 countries," said Jeff Taylor, founder and chairman of Monster. "Our marketing ingenuity and new product initiatives have cemented our position on a national and local scale, providing job seekers access to a wealth of national and local opportunities in one convenient online location."
Monster's local market emphasis has also made great strides with its new initiative, Monster JobMatch. In March, Monster announced Monster JobMatch (www.jobmatch.com), a fast, easy, and convenient way for non-exempt (hourly) job seekers to search and apply to a wide range of local employment opportunities. The initial offering in Greater Cincinnati is part of a larger Monster initiative focused on the employment needs of hourly workers and the local companies that employ them.
