Monster.com's Keep America Working Tour Visits 25th City Before Heading to the Great Lakes Region This Week

Monster Addresses Economic Crisis with Innovative Career Fair that Will Make More Than 140 Stops to Help Job Seekers Find Available Jobs in a Challenging Environment

MAYNARD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May. 19, 2009-- The national tour of the Keep America Working career fairs sponsored by Monster.com®, the leading global online career and recruitment resource and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: MWW), travels to the Great Lakes region this week in a journey that will include more than 140 stops across the nation throughout 2009. Since the tour was piloted in Boston at the end of February, 775 employers with 15,625 jobs to fill have met with more than 25,000 qualified job seekers ready to fill them. Thus far, the tour has included job fairs in Boston; New York City; Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia; Whippany, New Jersey; Cincinnati; Indianapolis; Chicago; Minneapolis; Nashville; Charlotte; Raleigh; Orlando; Atlanta; Jacksonville; Miami; Phoenix; Las Vegas; Denver; Houston; Dallas; Seattle; San Francisco; Los Angeles; Anaheim; San Diego and Kansas City, Missouri. The 15,625 jobs represented at the fairs are backed up by tens of thousands of jobs listed on Monster.com in these 25 metropolitan areas. This week the tour will stop today in Milwaukee, in Detroit on May 21 and in Chicago on May 22.

At the core of the Keep America Working Tour is Monster’s mission to help rebuild the American workforce. The company presents these job fairs free of charge to both job seekers and Monster employers with current job openings to eliminate any cost barrier and encourage the greatest number of employers with available jobs to link face-to-face with people who need those jobs.

Using an innovative model that goes well beyond the traditional career fair, the Keep America Working Tour brings together the tools and expertise job seekers need not only to find a job, but also to help manage their careers. Job seekers who attend the career fairs can learn from Monster’s career experts by attending live theater presentations that provide the advice and techniques they need to truly stand out from the crowd in today’s tough job market. They can see Monster's new career management tools and experience the all-new Monster.com. And finally, they can make the most of the on-site opportunity to meet face-to-face with market-leading employers with job opportunities. Employers who attend get to meet the highly qualified candidates they need to strengthen their recruiting pipelines and fill their open positions in an efficient manner.

"I had stopped using job fairs as a recruiting option. They just were not that effective. You’d talk to a few people and then you’d sit for a while. There was just too much downtime,” said Loretta Moye, Human Resources manager at Absolute Collection Service, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina. “The Keep America Working job fair in Raleigh changed my outlook. A lot of people attended and, even with the crowd, it was very organized. The candidates I talked to were experienced and diverse. I was looking for people with sales and medical backgrounds and I found them. I ended up hiring more than 15 people from the fair to fill medical collector and insurance follow up vacancies.

“I would absolutely recommend Monster’s Keep America Working career fairs to other employers who have jobs to fill,” Moye continued. “The fair I attended in Raleigh was well-run, the candidates were attentive and well-prepared, and to be frank, in the more than twenty years I have worked in human resources I don’t ever remember a job fair where there wasn’t a cost to the recruiters. These fairs are free.”
