Monster.com to Open Call Center in Glasgow to Service
European Customers and Expand Client BaseBritish Prime Minister Tony Blair MP Attends Announcement
Maynard, MA – March 10, 2000 – In an effort to further expand its European customer base, monster.com, the leading global online careers site and flagship brand of TMP Worldwide (NASDAQ: “TMPW”; ASX: “TMP”), announced today the opening of a call center in Glasgow, Scotland. The multi-lingual, business-to-business call center will handle inbound and outbound functions and service the UK, France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair MP attended the announcement of the call center, which will bring more than 180 jobs to Glasgow over the next three years.
“The opening of the call center in Glasgow reflects the enormous opportunity monster.com sees to expand our European client base,” said Steve Pogorzelski, executive vice president of global new business development, monster.com. “By developing a sales model similar to that in the U.S., we can greatly expand the distribution of Monster products and services throughout Europe, ultimately providing job seekers with more job postings and company information.”
Staffed with 50 people operating in six languages, the call center will be equipped to handle inbound and outbound functions. The “inbound” team will handle customer and job seeker inquiries across all of Monster.com's European Web sites, including local content and language sites in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. The “outbound” business-to-business team will focus its sales efforts on small- and medium-sized organizations throughout Europe. Additionally, monster.com has augmented its field force, adding over 40 field representatives to reach companies throughout Europe.
The call center will employ a state-of-the art Lucent switch and all the adjoining technology, including ACD and a Siebel sales automation system.
Currently operating at half capacity, the call center will be fully functional on April 3, 2000. Monster.com expects the call center to employ 75 people by year's end to support additional site launches in Germany, Ireland, Spain and Italy.
