Monster.Com Commits $1.2 Million to Job Shadow Day 2001; Over One Million Students to Job Shadow Beginning February 2nd

WASHINGTON, and MAYNARD, Mass., Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Monster(R).com, the leading global online careers site and flagship brand of the Interactive Division of TMP Worldwide (Nasdaq: TMPW; ASX: TMP.ASX), announced it is committing $1.2 million in funding and in-kind support to Job Shadow Day 2001, a nationwide effort to give over one million young people an up-close look at the world of work. As part of its sponsorship, Monster.com will host a Virtual Job Shadowing event on the official Job Shadow Day website (www.jobshadow.org) and on Monster.com (jobshadow.monster.com), which will give students access to real-life mentors and career information to explore a variety of careers. Monster.com will also run a television ad during the month of January promoting the initiative.

"Young people today want to know what opportunities await them in various career fields," says Jeff Taylor, CEO of Monster.com. "Monster.com is pleased to give students a chance to explore those opportunities while helping them gain valuable experiences in the process."

"Monster.com has been a tremendous partner in educating our nation's young people about the world of work," says Stuart Shapiro, director of the Job Shadow Day Coalition, the entity that implements Job Shadow Day. "Their commitment is truly changing the lives of students throughout the country."

This marks the second year in a row that Monster.com has been the national anchor sponsor for Job Shadow Day. As sponsor of Job Shadow Day 2000, the company has been instrumental in ensuring that young people across the country had the chance to shadow "career mentors" in their places of work. Monster.com's support in 2000 included the donation of a SuperBowl ad which promoted Job Shadow Day during the pre-game show and also in the days leading up to last year's event.

Beginning February 2nd, Job Shadow Day is a year-long national effort to enrich the lives of students by acquainting them with the world of work through on-the-job experiences and a carefully crafted school curriculum that ties academics to the workplace. In addition to Monster.com, News Corporation is a co-sponsor. Job Shadow Day 2001 is a joint effort of America's Promise, The National School-to-Work Office, Junior Achievement and the American Society of Association Executives.

Virtual Job Shadowing is an initiative that will allow students anywhere in the country with access to the Internet to shadow working professionals online. Beginning February 2nd, students will be able to see what takes place in the typical day of up to 50 professionals, including a computer programmer, chef, engineer and CEO. During the course of the day, students will be able to ask their "virtual career mentors" questions such as "How much education do you need?" and "What kind of experience is required?" to do their jobs. Virtual Job Shadowing will be available throughout the year at www.jobshadow.org and jobshadow.monster.com.

On February 2nd, 2000, more than one million of America's youth set off to explore over 75,000 workplaces throughout the nation, and on February 2nd, 2001, the goal is to double the participants. For additional information, visit the National Job Shadow Day website at www.jobshadow.org.
