Monster.com Acquires Luxjob.lu; New Acquisition Strengthens Monster's European Expansion Strategy

BRUSSELS, Belgium & LUXEMBOURG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 2001--Monster(R).com, the leading global online careers site and flagship brand of TMP Worldwide (NASDAQ: "TMPW"; ASX: "TMP"), today announced the acquisition of luxjob.lu, Luxembourg's largest recruitment site. The acquisition of the site, which like Monster.com is already profitable, contributes to the company's European expansion strategy and confirms its strong market position in the Benelux. The acquisition was completed by an exchange of shares between the shareholders of Synapse, the company operating luxjob.lu and TMP Worldwide.

Luxjob.lu, the first and leading Luxembourg recruitment site, was founded in 1998 and is headed by Managing Director, Marc Neuen. Their clients include well-established Luxembourg companies as well as blue chip global industry leaders.

Since the launch of the site, luxjob.lu has achieved the leadership position on the local on-line recruitment market, offering value-added, easy-to-use and cost-effective services to job seekers and companies. Luxjob.lu currently posts vacancies across many sectors with a strong concentration in Finance and IT. The resume database contains over 4,000 resumes, while the site gets an average of 25,000 page views per day.

Since mid-1999, luxjob.lu has had an alliance with Monster to offer local companies a broader visibility by publishing vacancies on the different international sites of Monster.com. "This partnership has made clear that both companies share the same vision - to provide the consumer with a complete career management tool, well beyond a simple job posting. Monster's world-wide developments in this field allow us to offer new services quickly to our existing customers," said Marc Neuen.

"Luxembourg represents a very dynamic employment environment which needs to attract professionals from the other European financial centers like London, Paris, Frankfurt or Dublin. This acquisition will enable European job seekers to connect with Luxembourg businesses, " said Andrew Wilkinson, Managing Director, Monster.com Europe.

"We feel there is a strong synergy between the two companies, as both focus on career management and want to offer their customers access to a more global pool of recruits, while offering job seekers a broader range of jobs and services," said Christopher Nottebaert, Managing Director, Monster.be. "With the acquisition of luxjobs.lu, Monster.com becomes the undisputed leader in the Benelux area, being the only online recruitment service boasting well-established sites in all three countries - a major advantage for both clients and job seekers in the region."
