Monster.com Acquires Leading College Job Site, JOBTRAK
Enhances Monster.com's Position as a Leader in Internet Careers - From Intern-to-CEO
MAYNARD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2000--Monster(R).com, the leading global online careers site and flagship brand of TMP Worldwide (NASDAQ: "TMPW"; ASX: "TMP"), announced that on November 7, it acquired privately held JOBTRAK, a significant Internet player in the college job listing and resume arena. The terms and conditions of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The acquisition of JOBTRAK positions Monster.com as a leader in college recruiting by adding co-branded job listing and resume databases for more than 1,000 college and university career centers in the U.S. It also enhances Monster.com's extensive database of candidates and job postings -- more than a half million students and alumni are registered JOBTRAK users, employers posted 305,000 full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities on the site in 1999, and the site has grown to more than 520,000 employer accounts over the past 12 years.
"Since JOBTRAK's start in 1988, it has become a clear leader in the college area, having formed unique relationships with over one thousand college and university career centers whose schools represent more than half of the fifteen million college students in the U.S.," said Jeff Taylor, CEO of Monster.com. "This acquisition further strengthens Monster.com's leadership position in the online careers space, with targeted offerings for every level of job seeker -- from intern-to-CEO."
"Monster.com and JOBTRAK share very similar philosophies in serving job seekers and employers. JOBTRAK's leadership position in the college market, built over the past twelve years, together with Monster.com's brand appeal among college students, allows each of us to more quickly reach our common goal of helping individuals more effectively manage their careers from their first internship in college through retirement," said Ken Ramberg, co-founder of JOBTRAK.
JOBTRAK provides password-protected, co-branded job listing and resume databases and interview software for over 1,000 college career centers. Unlike traditional career sites, JOBTRAK enables employers to target their job listings to students and alumni from specific campuses to ensure visibility within a highly qualified and motivated pool of candidates. It also provides the following products and services:
InterviewTRAK - An on-campus interview schedule management tool for career centers and employers. It allows employers to review resumes and select candidates, and enables students to sign up for interview time slots online.
Career & Alumni Contact Network - A database which helps job-seeking college students connect with career mentors in their desired field and geographical location.
Student Employment Database - A system which allows college and university career centers to post and manage on-campus, work-student, and co-op positions for students.
Job Search Resources - Valuable resources for students including a detailed guide to the job search process, a guide to writing your resume and online message boards.
Virtual Career Fairs - JOBTRAK creates and hosts national and college-specific virtual career fairs. Job seekers can visit employer booths, research the opportunities and apply for positions.
