Monster Unveils New Strategic Consumer Initiative

Initiative Delivers a Redesigned Monster.com Website; Monster Customer Central, a 24/7 Customer Service Center; and New National Advertising Campaign

MAYNARD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2005-- Based on recent customer research and ten years of history pioneering and leading the online recruitment industry, Monster(R) today announced a new strategic consumer initiative designed to address and align with a changing workplace and culture. This broad-reaching initiative launched with a newly-created monster.com website; Monster Customer Central - a 24/7 live online and phone customer service center; and an innovative national and local advertising campaign that celebrates people's unique talents, true human spirit, and desire to excel and make great things happen at work. Monster is the leading global online careers site and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNST).

"Lifelong employment has been replaced by lifetime employment search and, as the industry leader, Monster is changing the fundamental nature of online career development to better reflect the changing needs - and wants - of our job seeker customers," said Steve Pogorzelski, President of Monster, North America. "Now more than ever, networking, training, ongoing education and guidance are critical for workers at all levels, throughout all phases of their career development."

"Our research revealed compelling information about how job seekers view the current careers marketplace and identified an unfilled need," said Brad Baker, Chief Product and Marketing Officer, Monster. "Our consumers said they want a consistent, trusted ally which is relevant to their career needs, could offer more local jobs, and deliver a more personalized experience. We listened, we responded, and we are now helping to set yet another standard for the online recruiting industry. The new monster.com website is designed to help each individual job seeker through every step of their career."

The New Monster.com

Key features of the new monster.com website include:

  • Streamlined Resume Builder - Monster has simplified the process of creating, posting, and updating a resume into three easy steps, enabling job seekers to get out in front of employers easier than ever before. Employer customers benefit from this change as it further improves their ability to find and target the right, qualified candidates.
  • More Customization - Users can now customize career pages within their My Monster account to deliver continuously updated content segmented by area of interest, guidance from numerous experts across multiple fields, and real-time status specific to each individual job search.
  • Refined Job Search - Seekers can now further narrow their job search results by keyword, ZIP code/radius, job location, job category, salary, and job status (i.e. full time, part time, per diem) - all based on criteria of specific importance to them.
  • Expert-Driven Career Content - The newly designed site has made the career advice section even easier to navigate, enabling job seekers to find the expert-driven tips, tools, and advice they need to help them manage their career.

Customer Central

Monster also launched Customer Central, a 24/7 live customer service center. Designed to provide job seekers and employers with world-class phone and online support any time of day, any day of the week, this interaction will further personalize the user experience. Job seekers and employers can reach Customer Central by calling 1-800-MONSTER or via email at customercentral@monster.com.

National Advertising Campaign

Monster's new advertising campaign sets a positive, personal, and exciting tone for job seekers. The first commercial, titled "New Monster. New You," debuts today and will air throughout the month of June in primetime, late night, and early morning on network and cable stations including CBS, NBC, ESPN, TBS, TNT, USA, VH-1, E!, Soapnet, and Comedy Central. To the tune of Electric Light Orchestra's 1970s hit "Do Ya," the spot features Monster's newly redesigned website and celebrates the pure joy and excitement of finding the right job and making good things happen for your career.

Additional televisions spots, along with print advertising in national weekly, monthly, and trade publications, will launch over the summer. The TV and print ads were created by Boston-based Brand Content.

Monster will also be heard and seen across Infinity's Broadcasting's 180 radio stations and their corresponding websites in 41 U.S. markets. As part of our strategic marketing agreement with Internet Broadcasting Systems, Inc., Monster's new campaign will have extensive online presence through Internet Broadcasting's 58 affiliate's news and information sites, as well as thousands of other websites.
