Java Programmer Lands Project Assignment, Wins VW New BeetleÒ

Maynard, MA – March 28, 2000 – Freelancer Hari Golla, a software architect and programmer from Cary, North Carolina, was excited to find a great java programming project after posting his profile on Monster Talent MarketSM. The car is just a bonus.

Monster.com announced today that Golla is the Grand Prize winner of a 1999 VW New Beetle* in the Monster Talent Market Success Stories Contest. Monster Talent Market is an online, auction-style marketplace that connects free agents with companies.

Golla, a Java developer, posted his profile on Monster Talent Market looking for a part time contract assignment that would expose him to new technologies. He was hired for a telecommuting job that was an ideal match for his work style and skill set.

“Monster Talent Market is the wave of the future,” said Golla. “Compared to the traditional way of finding contract work – contacting the employer, waiting to hear back – the auction style marketplace is faster and easier. The weekly e-mails keep you updated on who is interested in your skills.”

When Golla's current contract assignment ends, he plans to update his profile and continue to use Monster Talent Market to connect with employers. “My friends didn't believe me when I first told them about Monster Talent Market, but when they saw how many hits I was getting, and the great assignment I landed, they posted their profiles, too,” he said.

“Mr. Golla's success story really resonated with us, because we designed Monster Talent Market to meet the needs of free agents just like him,” said Jeff Taylor, CEO of Monster.com. “Now more than ever, talented individuals have unprecedented power to take charge of their careers by choosing contract assignments that fit their needs.”

To enter the contest, free agents submitted short (500 words or less) essays about their success with Monster Talent Market. Contest entries were judged by a panel of Monster.com employees, based on the following criteria: desirability of project, speed of hire and overall satisfaction with project.
