Monster to Raise Awareness with Olympic-Themed Super Bowl Spot; Spot Supports Monster's Olympic Initiative and `Never Settle' Philosophy
Highlighting Monster's fourth consecutive year in the Super Bowl as an advertiser, the energetic, fast-paced spot, titled "Fit Guy," features snapshots of Olympians at the peak of competition - a speed skater aggressively circling the rink, a skier soaring off a mile-high mountain and a goalie fiercely defending her net. The message: After the medals have been awarded and the athletes return home, Olympians - and all Americans - deserve the opportunity to find and pursue challenging careers. The spot is designed to raise awareness of what many Olympic athletes encounter after the Games end. In conjunction with the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC), Monster has created TeamUSAnet (http://teamusanet.monster.com/), the first career management website designed exclusively for U.S. Olympic athletes and Olympic hopefuls, which features a resume builder, job search access, an Olympic mentoring network and other athlete-specific content to help athletes with their post-Olympic endeavors.
"The Super Bowl, the year's most watched television event, has always played an integral role in our overall branding strategy. There is no better venue to introduce our first Olympic spot, showcase Monster's ongoing commitment to our nation's finest athletes, and support our Olympic sponsorship, where we are striving to help athletes find jobs after the Games are over," said Jeff Taylor, founder and chairman of Monster. "These world-class athletes embody our "Never Settle" philosophy, which encourages Americans to continually strive to enhance their lives and careers."
"Fit Guy"
Amid shots of athletes at their competitive best, Monster's spot utilizes unique graphic transitions between fast-moving Olympic footage and inspiring music. Created by Arnold Worldwide, the ad is the second spot from "Never Settle," Monster's new 2002 multi-spot campaign. The first ad, "Your Next Job," debuted during the Bowl Championship Series on January 1st, 2002. A third spot, titled "On The Bus," will air later in 2002.
"Our latest spot for Monster utilizes images of Olympic athletes at the height of competition to illustrate the valor that can result from pursuing excellence," said Ron Lawner, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Arnold Worldwide. "Monster is all about inspiring Americans to seek out new opportunities, and what better way to do that than showcase the Olympic spirit."
The new "Never Settle" campaign and accompanying Super Bowl advertising also mark the rollout of a brand new "Monster." The campaign officially marks the unveiling of Monster.com's re-branding as simply "Monster" with the official tagline "Never Settle." The new logo and tagline are now on the Monster homepage www.monster.com.
"Our new logo and tagline as Monster and "Never Settle" is indicative of the growth and brand recognition that Monster has experienced since our inception in 1994. No longer just a "dotcom," Monster is the global online career management leader for millions of job seekers and employers, and we look forward to the future - inspiring millions more people to Never Settle in their lives and careers," added Taylor.
