Monster Appoints Boston Globe Veteran to Drive Sales for Small and Medium Sized Business Sectors

(NASDAQ: MNST), today announced the appointment of Peter Newton as Senior Vice President, Small and Medium Business. Mr. Newton, a long-time newspaper industry veteran, moves to the leading company in global online recruitment industry after an 18-year career at The Boston Globe, where he most recently held the position of Vice President of Advertising.

In his new role, Mr. Newton will be responsible for overseeing and directing the entire Monster sales force dedicated to growing the company's small- and medium-sized business (SMB) sales channel. Mr. Newton will be tasked with growing and expanding Monster's already successful business in key local markets throughout the United States.

While serving at The Boston Globe, Mr. Newton was named President of BostonWorks, the recruitment services division launched by The Globe in 2001. Before and after his time as President of BostonWorks, Mr. Newton was vice president of advertising for the newspaper. Prior to holding this position, he was manager of advertising administration for the newspaper's advertising department, and before that served as an assistant controller. Previously, Mr. Newton also served as an internal audit manager with The Boston Globe's parent company, then Affiliated Publications, Inc., and before that, worked at Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Newton is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.
