Is it possible to take your child/children to work?
Monster poll shows: 56 percent of the German respondents are not able to take their child to work no matter what.
Eschborn, 9 August 2010 – Demographic change in Germany already appears in the job market today: There’s an increasing lack of qualified employees. Therefore a child-friendly company policy can be a deciding factor in the fight for the best brains and it also can improve the compatibility of job and family life. A recent survey of the best-known private career portal Monster.de analyzed the child-friendliness at work. According to this survey 56 percent of the German respondents are not able to take their child/children to work in any case. Twenty percent of the German surveyed can imagine this option in exceptional cases, though it isn’t accepted in a positive way. However, at least one quarter of respondents is sure that their boss and colleagues would take it easy – of course with the assurance? that there’s no interruption of work.

In contrast with Austria, there’s also no place for children at work. Fifty-seven percent of the surveyed Austrians believe devoutly that there’s no possibility to take their child to work in any case.
“A family-friendly corporate structure should respond to the needs of working parents – though this could mean exceptional circumstances at work”, says Marcus Riecke, CEO Central Europe Monster Worldwide. “Alternatively it could make sense to provide home offices to employees. That way parents are able to take care for their children. Being provided with enough bureau infrastructures they can do the essentials for work from home.”
From July 12th until July 25th 2010, 1,441 interviewees in Germany and Austria voted. The career platform Monster regularly conducts surveys on its local as well as global websites on the subject(s) of workplace and career. These polls are not representative; they represent the opinion of Monster users.
