February Job Frenzy: Monster.com Catapults to 80th Most-Visited Site On the Internet
MAYNARD, Mass.-- March 25, 1999 -- Monster.com, part of the Interactive Division of TMP Worldwide (NASDAQ: ``TMPW''; ASX: ``TMP''), today announced that the site is the 80th most-visited site on the Internet. According to independent research conducted by Media Metrix, 3.9 percent of the entire Internet population visited Monster.com during the month of February -- more than double that of its nearest competitor. The thirty-percent increase in reach from January to February propels Monster.com to the 80th most-visited site on the Internet, further extending the company's lead in the online careers category.
Monster.com attributes the increase in reach to the January merger of The Monster Board® and Online Career Center to form Monster.com, the company's first-ever television commercial broadcast during the Super Bowl, and the emergence of online recruiting as the newest ``hot category'' on the Internet.
Today, Monster.com offers more than 180,000 job opportunities from thousands of companies, a resume database containing more than 1.1 million resumes, and receives nearly 6 million unique visits per month.
``Online job seeking is one of the hottest applications on the Internet, and we made some aggressive business moves with the merger and the Super Bowl commercial to ensure Monster.com's leadership position in this space,'' said Jeff Taylor, chief executive officer of Monster.com. ``I can sense the momentum in our business evidenced by the dramatic increase in Monster.com's audience reach last month.''
Monster.com, the leading, global online network for careers, was launched in mid-January as a result of the merger of the number-one and number-four-rated online recruitment sites The Monster Board and Online Career Center, both owned by TMP Worldwide.
