Monster Addresses Economic Crisis with Innovative Career Fairs to Help Job Seekers Across the United States Find Available Jobs in a Challenging Environment

MAYNARD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 2, 2009-- The national tour of the Keep America Working career fairs sponsored by Monster.com®, the leading global online career and recruitment resource and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: MWW), continues down the East Coast this week in a journey that will cross the country three times throughout 2009. Since the tour was piloted in Boston at the end of February, 946 employers with more than 19,600 jobs to fill have met with more than 30,800 qualified job seekers ready to fill them. Thus far, the tour has included 33 job fairs in 31 cities including Boston; New York City; Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia; Whippany, New Jersey; Cincinnati; Indianapolis; Chicago; Minneapolis; Nashville; Charlotte; Raleigh; Orlando; Atlanta; Jacksonville; Miami; Phoenix; Las Vegas; Denver; Houston; Dallas; Seattle; San Francisco; Los Angeles; Anaheim; San Diego; Kansas City, Missouri; Milwaukee; Detroit; Hoffman Estates, Illinois and Burlington, Massachusetts. The more than 19,600 jobs represented at the fairs are backed up by tens of thousands of jobs listed on Monster.com in these metropolitan areas. This week the tour will stop tomorrow in Baltimore, in Pittsburgh on June 4 and in Hartford on June 5.

At the core of the Keep America Working Tour is Monster’s mission to help rebuild the American workforce. The company presents these job fairs free of charge to both job seekers and Monster employers with current job openings to eliminate any cost barrier and encourage the greatest number of employers with available jobs to link face-to-face with people who need those jobs.

Using an innovative model that goes well beyond the traditional career fair, the Keep America Working Tour brings together the tools and expertise job seekers need not only to find a job, but also to help manage their careers. Job seekers who attend the career fairs can learn from Monster’s career experts by attending live theater presentations that provide the advice and techniques they need to truly stand out from the crowd in today’s tough job market. They can see Monster's new career management tools and experience the all-new Monster.com. And finally, they can make the most of the on-site opportunity to meet face-to-face with market-leading employers with job opportunities. Employers who attend get to meet the highly qualified candidates they need to strengthen their recruiting pipelines and fill their open positions in an efficient manner.

Another unique aspect of the Keep American Working Tour is Monster’s relationship with two non-profit organizations, Dress for Success and Career Gear. In the current economic environment, these non-profits are experiencing cuts to their program budgets that preclude them from hosting career fairs of their own. Monster has invited these organizations and their respective clients to attend the Keep America Working Tour. Clients from these organizations receive preferred early entry to attend a pre-fair workshop that orients them to the career fair and arms them with strategies to help them make the most of their experience.

“All of the women from Dress for Success who have attended Monster’s Keep America Working career fairs in cities across the country have had incredibly valuable and productive experiences networking with employers and practicing their interview skills,” said Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide. “Thus far, three of our clients have landed great jobs as a direct result of the career fairs in New York and Dallas and we will definitely continue to participate in the job fairs when the Keep America Working Tour visits the cities where we operate.”
